CobbleDollars: Sign Shops
- Sign shops let players trade items stored in a nearby chest using CobbleDollars balances.
- Place a chest, then attach a sign next to or on it. The sign faces players; the chest can be behind, below, or beside the sign.
- Sign format:
- Line 1:
[Buy]for players purchasing from the chest,[Sell]for players selling items into the chest. - Line 2:
<amount> <item>(for example1 iron_ingotor32 Ultra Ball). The amount defaults to 1 if the first token is not a number. - Line 3: price such as
$500or500. - Line 4 (optional): owner name. If set, buy sales pay the owner; sell shops require the owner to be online and solvent to pay the seller.
- Line 1:
- Interacting with the sign (main hand) performs the trade:
- Buy: deducts the price from the buyer, removes stock from the chest, and pays the owner if set.
- Sell: removes the items from the player, deposits them into the chest, and pays the player (from the owner when specified).
- The mod checks CobbleDollars balances directly; if CobbleDollars is missing or cannot be reached, trades are blocked.
Notes and limitations
- Owner payouts when the owner is offline use CobbleDollars’ offline deposit hook when available; paying from offline owners is not supported.
- Only adjacent containers are scanned; if multiple containers are nearby, the one directly behind the wall sign is preferred, otherwise the first adjacent match is used.
- Double-chest logic defers to the single block entity closest to the sign; extremely custom containers may not behave as expected.
