The Horror is a server-side nightmare module that adds cursed mobs, items, and a sanity system to push players toward the dream realm.

Highlights

  • New hostiles: ghosts drift and sap speed, wraiths wither victims, and the boss Night stalks low-sanity players with a boss bar and shadow summons.
  • Sanity/fear meter: darkness, storms, hostile proximity, and the nightmare dimension drain sanity while daylight and sleep restore it; low sanity applies nausea/ blindness, spawns apparitions, and can summon the Night.
  • Cursed gear: Dread Curse weapon enchantment inflicts wither and slowness while draining the wielder’s sanity; Cursed Relic trades power for corruption; Haunted Charm steadies nerves; Wailing Tome summons ghosts or wraiths; Nightmare Totem toggles travel to the nightmare realm; Wraithblade and Nightmare Shards drop from new foes.
  • World content: nightmare dimension (thehorror:nightmare) with checkerboard Nightmare Wastes/Haunted Woods biomes, haunted catacomb structure set, and entity loot tables for the new mobs.

Usage

  • Activate/restore sanity with the Haunted Charm; wield the Cursed Relic for short bursts of strength at a sanity cost.
  • Apply the Dread Curse enchantment to weapons (data-driven enchantment) for withering strikes; each proc also chips away at the attacker’s sanity.
  • Use the Nightmare Totem to shift between the overworld and the nightmare dimension; low sanity inside can trigger the Night’s arrival.
  • The Wailing Tome spawns a nearby ghost or wraith; Nightmare Shards drop from spectral enemies and fuel progression toward the Wraithblade and other rewards from the Night.

Notes and limitations

  • Sanity tracks per session (not persisted across restarts) and surfaces via action-bar messages when it changes.
  • Structures use lightweight template pools; worldgen focuses on ambience rather than large prefabs.
  • No client textures or models are bundled; servers should pair with compatible client resources for visuals and UI effects.
