Vanilla+
What it does
- Adds a progression-driven skill system for Mining, Combat, Exploration, Building, and Magic with mana/stamina tracking. Skills level up from normal play and grant passive buffs;
/vanilla skill showreports current levels and/vanilla skill resetwipes progress for easy respeccing. - Introduces lightweight ritual and tool magic. Mana regenerates over time; Ritual Talismans accelerate crops or weaken nearby hostiles, magic scrolls award bonus skill XP, and scouting tools give short mobility bursts.
- Brings new gear and materials: Refined Alloy and Shimmering Thread feed into the Burrowing Pick, Reaching Halberd, Builder’s Staff (line placement helper), Ritual Talisman, Scouting Compass, Dusted Scroll, and the Ancient Relic Core trinket.
- Spawns a natural mini-boss—the Stonebound Golem—rarely in the overworld below Y40 with slam/slow mechanics. Its loot table drops relic parts and valuables for further crafting.
- Expands loot and trades: stronghold/ancient loot can roll relic pieces, mineshaft/treasure chests can roll alloys/scrolls, and key villager professions sell the new utility items.
Implementation notes
- Loader mod id is
vanilla_plus; content still uses thevanillanamespace (e.g.,vanilla:reaching_halberd) to keep the requested flavor while avoiding a conflict with the built-in vanilla datapack. - Passive bonuses are applied server-side each tick; buffs refresh automatically (haste, strength/resistance, speed/slow-fall, regeneration, hero of the village).
- Mana/stamina caps scale with Magic/Exploration/Building levels; spending mana via rituals also grants Magic XP.
- Builder’s Staff places matching blocks in a short line in the clicked direction when the player has that block in inventory; building skill raises reach.
- Reaching Halberd offers a short dash and slows targets; Burrowing Pick rewards mining tougher blocks; Relic Core grants periodic absorption while carried.
- Stonebound Golems follow standard hostile spawning rules with an added Y<40 check; they resist knockback and periodically perform a shockwave.
Known limitations / future ideas
- Items currently reuse vanilla textures; bespoke art could improve readability.
- Rituals are intentionally simple; future updates could add structure-aware rites or world interactions tied to weather/biomes.
- Villager trade balance is minimal and may need tuning per pack/server economy.
