Waterbottle (server-only, 1.21.1)
What it does
- Introduces regional curses that grow in chunks where non-creative, non-spectator players linger and decay once everyone leaves.
- Curses bend the atmosphere: localized darkness, slowness, and hunger pulses, hostile mobs gain speed/strength surges, nearby animals weaken, storms and occasional lightning roll in, and cave-like murmurs haunt the air.
- Difficulty adapts to player presence and gear strength; heavier armor, enchanted weapons, and party size push curses to intensify faster.
- Behavior is synchronized for all players on the server and only processes chunks that currently host players to stay lightweight.
Using the mod
- Drop the jar on a Fabric server; curses automatically track chunks with active players.
- Staying in one area lets the pressure build; moving on or leaving lowers it over time.
Notes and limitations
- Weather pushes are global once triggered, so a storm from one cursed area affects the whole world.
- Curse pressure is session-bound and resets when the server stops; there is no persistence or configuration yet.
- Effects avoid scripted jump scares, focusing on emergent tension; adjust server difficulty if you need a calmer baseline.
Server Validation
ā Server validation passed - The mod was tested on a real Minecraft server and loaded successfully.
