Death Note Mod

Overview

The Death Note mod adds a mysterious book inspired by the popular anime. When you write a mob's name in this book, they meet their end. Craft it using a Book and Quill combined with a Wither Skeleton Skull!

Features

  • Craft the Death Note - Drop a Book and Quill near a Wither Skeleton Skull to create the Death Note
  • Kill any mob - Write a mob type (zombie, cow, villager) on page 2 to eliminate the nearest one
  • Target specific mobs - Use keywords like "nearest", "random", or "farthest" before the name
  • Kill named mobs or players - Write their exact custom name or username
  • Choose the cause of death - Add death messages like "was struck by lightning" or "burned to death"

How to Use

Crafting

  1. Get a Book and Quill
  2. Get a Wither Skeleton Skull (from killing Wither Skeletons in Nether fortresses)
  3. Drop both items near each other on the ground
  4. They will combine into the Death Note!

Using the Death Note

  1. Hold the Death Note (the renamed Book and Quill)
  2. Write on page 2 with your target information
  3. Right-click to use the book

Target Examples

  • zombie - Kills the nearest zombie
  • random cow - Kills a random cow
  • farthest skeleton - Kills the skeleton farthest from you
  • Notch - Kills the player named Notch (if on server)
  • nearest zombie was struck by lightning - Kills nearest zombie with lightning effect

Available Death Causes

  • blew up
  • burned to death / went up in flames
  • drowned
  • fell from a high place / hit the ground too hard
  • froze to death
  • starved to death
  • suffocated in a wall
  • tried to swim in lava
  • was struck by lightning
  • was killed by magic
  • withered away
  • and more!

Tips & Tricks

  • Use "random" for fun chaos when multiple mobs are around
  • Lightning death causes a visual flash effect
  • Explosion deaths can damage nearby blocks and entities
  • The Death Note works on any living mob including hostile, passive, and named entities

Known Limitations

  • Only works in the same dimension as the target
  • Cannot target bosses like the Ender Dragon or Warden through normal means
  • Death causes that don't apply to a mob will result in instant death instead
