Desertification Mod
- Every biome is forced into a hot, rainless desert climate; water-based spawns are removed and vegetation decoration steps are cleared to keep the world barren.
- A biome modifier injects two custom worldgen features into all biomes:
- Sand veil: repaints surface blocks into sand and sandstone across each chunk, drying out the landscape.
- Sand dunes: custom mound feature that builds windswept sand piles for natural-looking dunes.
- Custom features, configured features, placed features, and the biome modifier are registered via deferred registers; the modifier is applied automatically to all biomes so new worlds generate as desert wastelands.
- Resources include a basic language entry and pack metadata for 1.20.1; the mod ID is
desertification, version0.1.0.
Notes and Tips
- Existing structures still generate, but will sit on sand; ocean or river beds are largely dried out by the sand veil and removal of lake/spring features.
- The sand veil runs frequently to blanket terrain; on very low-end machines worldgen may take slightly longer when first creating chunks.
