Display names

Overview

Choose the name other players see for you throughout the server.

Features

• Custom names appear in nametags, chat, death messages, and command feedback that uses player names.
• Names are saved with your player data and remain after reconnecting, restarting the server, and respawning.
• Names can be changed or cleared at any time.

How to Use

• Set your name: /displayname set Your New Name
• Check your current name: /displayname get
• Return to your account name: /displayname clear
• Server operators can manage another online player with /displayname setfor <player> <name>, /displayname getfor <player>, and /displayname clearfor <player>.

Names are limited to 32 characters. Formatting codes and clickable text are not accepted; the name is plain text for safety.

Known Limitations

The operator commands require permission level 2 or higher and the target player must be online. The custom name affects player name text supplied by the game; it does not change the account name used for login, permissions, or private-message targeting.
