F/A-18C server mod highlights
- Adds a server-side F/A-18C jet built from staged smithing: craft frame (4 iron blocks) -> smith with a netherite upgrade template + redstone block for powered frame -> another redstone block for avionics -> netherite block for the armed jet item.
- Jet spawns an armor-stand based airframe; boarding auto-spools the engine, accelerates to 160 b/s with soft stall below 50 b/s, sinks gently until recovered above 60 b/s, and burns fuel only while running (600 s tank).
- Cockpit HUD pushes to the action bar every ~5 seconds with speed, altitude, fuel, selected missile, and current lock status; radar/IR scanners run server-side (700 m radar cone 160°, IR cone 1.2°, sun always valid).
- Weapons: left click swings fire the M61 Vulcan (5-shot bursts, 2 hearts each, slight spread, brief fire on hit); right click fires the selected missile (AIM-120 needs radar soft/hard lock; AIM-9 needs IR lock). Swap-hand (F) cycles AIM-120/AIM-9, drop (Q) deploys countermeasures (60 chaff + 60 flares, 3 s cooldown, chaff requires notch to break radar).
- Missiles accelerate to 240 b/s in ~4 s with 10°/s turn cap and 4 block proximity fuse; they self-destruct after 40 s. AIM-120 can only be fired with a live radar lock; AIM-9 locks IR sources (players to 300, powered redstone to ~16 radius sample, sun priority).
- Rearm/refuel by right-clicking the grounded jet with items: fuel adds 100 s up to 600; Vulcan ammo packs add 30 rounds up to 640; AIM-120 up to 6; AIM-9 up to 4.
- Crafting: fuel (clay + gunpowder + redstone torch), Vulcan ammo (1 TNT + 3 iron ingots + 2 nuggets), AIM-120 (redstone block, 4 iron blocks, TNT, netherrack, comparator, repeater), AIM-9 (redstone block, 4 iron blocks, netherrack, observer). All items live in the F/A-18C creative tab.
- Jet health is 200; it takes scripted damage from attacks/missile blasts and explodes at power 6 when destroyed.
- Visuals rely on a server-delivered resource pack (not included) that retextures the armor stand stack; items use vanilla placeholders by default.
Notes and limitations
- Control inputs are mapped to server-visible actions (left-click swing, right-click use, F swap, Q drop); custom “C to look around” is not possible server-side.
- Radar notch + chaff is approximated via target velocity angle; redstone IR locks are sampled in a modest radius to avoid heavy scans.
- Jets and missiles are not persisted across restarts and are managed purely in memory.
