Horror Mod Notes
- Adds a single Overlooker horror mob that stalks a bound player. It spawns rarely in very dark depths (Y ≤ 0, light ≤ 2) and always binds to one player; it despawns when that player is offline and later resumes stalking them. Interest rises from darkness, depth, long time since rest, and mining in the deep; higher interest enables close-range ambushes with Blindness, Slowness, and mixed magic/melee damage before it teleports away.
- Visibility tricks: when inside the target’s forward cone the Overlooker turns invisible; outside it appears with a faint glow. It plays breaths/scratches behind players and leaves brief ash footprints. It prefers to stay 10–20 blocks behind or around corners and will occasionally teleport to reposition.
- Counterplay items: Mirror Shard (offhand) reveals the Overlooker behind you with a glow even when it would be invisible. A Warded Lantern block prevents its invisibility within a short radius and slows it so it can be fought. The Overlooked Eye drop crafts a Ward-Twined Talisman that reduces spawn pull and interest growth when carried.
- Crafting: Mirror Shard (glass pane, iron nugget, amethyst shard), Warded Lantern (soul lantern + Overlooked Eye), Ward-Twined Talisman (Overlooked Eye, Mirror Shard, string, gold nuggets). A spawn egg is provided for testing.
- Configurable values (spawn rates, distances, interest tuning, attack strength, reveal/ward radii) live in
config/horror.jsonand generate on first run. - Assets: custom textures for the Overlooker, items, block models, sounds mapped to eerie vanilla effects. Loot tables drop the Overlooked Eye, and block/entity models plus language strings are included.
- Known limits: the Overlooker uses a humanoid silhouette with vanilla biped geometry; behavior favors atmosphere over complex combat AI. Only one can exist per server; natural spawns are throttled but forced spawns via eggs ignore uniqueness. Adjust config if spawns feel too frequent/rare.
