Mars planet testing

What was added

  • Mars dimension keyed marsplanettesting:mars with a custom dimension type and two data-driven biomes (Mars Plains and Mars Canyons).
  • 38 Mars-themed blocks spanning rocks, carbon sets, machinery (oxygen generator, radio relay, landing pad, radiation shield, greenhouse glass), and decorative lanterns/bricks/tiles.
  • 29 items including mars dust/regolith chain, metals, carbon parts, silica, pearls, rover tech, canisters, and radioactive components.
  • 10 ambient/passive Mars creatures with spawn eggs and biome spawn entries.
  • 57 crafting recipes covering at least 35 craftable objects to progress through the Mars resource loop.

How to use it

  • Enter the Mars world via commands or admin teleport tools targeting marsplanettesting:mars; the biome keys are marsplanettesting:mars_plains and marsplanettesting:mars_canyons.
  • Use the new crafting chain (dust → regolith/rocks → refined metals/carbon → martian steel → redsteel tech) to unlock advanced blocks and machinery.
  • Radioactive items (radio_crystal, radio_dust, radio_plate) apply a light Weakness effect while carried; creative players are exempt.
  • Spawn eggs let you hand-place the Mars creatures; natural spawning is wired into the two Mars biomes.

Implementation notes

  • Biome spawn tables now only use valid spawn categories, removing the unused axolotl bucket to keep datapack loading clean on servers.
  • Biomes reference vanilla ore placed features and the default cave carver to keep registry lookups satisfied during worldgen.
  • The dimension type references the proper infiniburn tag (#minecraft:infiniburn_overworld) so Mars generation behaves like the overworld for fire spread.
  • Glass and ice-style blocks render translucently for readability; all blocks drop themselves via loot tables.
  • Entities share simple wandering/regen AI; renderers are registered on the client entrypoint.

Server Validation

Server validation passed - The mod was tested on a real Minecraft server and loaded successfully.
