portal
Create an item that will look like a blue book, with which you can create a portal to another dimension. This dimension will be called "otherworld", and...
00—fabricServer1.21.1mod
Portal Mod Overview
- Adds a server-side "Otherworld" dimension with perpetual dusk lighting, overworld-style biomes (trees, mobs, and structures), and full mob spawning.
- Introduces a glowing portal block and a blue portal tome to open two-way gates between the overworld and the Otherworld.
Using the Portal Tome
- Right-click any block with the portal tome to place a humming portal at that spot; a paired portal and small platform are also created in the Otherworld.
- Right-click in the air to mark the block you’re looking at (within a short range) as a portal anchor, again creating a linked portal in the Otherworld.
- Walk through the portal block to travel; players are given a short cooldown to prevent instant bouncing between worlds.
- Operators can run
/portalbookto receive the tome; it is not otherwise craftable.
Dimension & Portal Behavior
- The Otherworld dimension is defined as a built-in data pack and loads automatically when the server runs with the mod.
- Terrain generation mirrors overworld noise settings but with a fixed twilight time and softer ambient light to set it apart.
- Portal blocks emit light, have no collision, and rest on a reinforced deepslate/lapis platform that is built for you when the portal is placed.
- Portals try to place themselves at safe, open positions near the chosen coordinates in both worlds.
Notes and Limitations
- Only players are teleported by the portal blocks; mobs are not moved through them.
- The tome clears a two-block-tall column where the portal sits, so avoid using it directly inside fragile builds.
- No crafting recipe is provided; distribution is via commands or server events.
Server Validation
✅ Server validation passed - The mod was tested on a real Minecraft server and loaded successfully.
