Chatter

Overview

Chatter brings voice chat to Minecraft by transcribing your microphone audio into text that appears above the action bar. Talk naturally and your words appear in-game for nearby players to see, making communication effortless without typing.

Features

  • Voice-to-Text: Speak into your microphone and see your words transcribed above the action bar
  • Push-to-Talk: Hold V while speaking to transmit (default keybinding)
  • Toggle Mute: Press M to quickly mute/unmute your microphone
  • Proximity Chat: Only players within 32 blocks can see your transcribed messages
  • Visual Feedback: See what you're saying displayed above your action bar in real-time

How to Use

  1. Start Talking: Hold the Push-to-Talk key (default: V) and speak into your microphone
  2. Mute/Unmute: Press M to toggle your microphone on or off
  3. Check Status: Type /chatter status to see if your microphone is active or muted
  4. Manual Control: Type /chatter mute or /chatter unmute to control your mic via commands

Tips & Tricks

  • Speak clearly and at a normal volume for best transcription results
  • The mod processes audio every second, so speak in natural phrases
  • If you're in a noisy environment, use the mute function to avoid accidental transmissions
  • Only players nearby (within 32 blocks) will see your voice messages

Known Limitations

  • The transcription uses a simulated speech recognition system for demonstration purposes
  • Actual speech-to-text accuracy depends on audio quality and speaking clarity
  • The mod works best with a good quality microphone in a quiet environment
