Elytra Autopilot Mod

Overview

This mod adds an autopilot system for elytra flight! It lets you set destinations, maintain altitude, and control your flight speed automatically. Perfect for long-distance travel without constantly adjusting your pitch and yaw.

Features

  • Autopilot Toggle - Automatically controls your pitch and yaw while gliding
  • Destination Navigation - Set coordinates to fly to any location automatically
  • Altitude Control - Maintain a specific height while flying
  • Terrain Following - Automatically avoid crashing into the ground
  • Speed Control - Adjust your cruising speed (0.5x to 5x)
  • On-Screen HUD - Shows autopilot status, destination, and distance while active
  • GUI Control Panel - Easy-to-use menu for all settings

How to Use

Keybindings (configure in Controls menu under "Autopilot"):

  • J - Open the Autopilot GUI
  • K - Toggle autopilot on/off
  • [ - Decrease speed
  • ] - Increase speed

Getting Started:

  1. Equip your elytra and start gliding
  2. Press J to open the control panel
  3. Click "Enable Autopilot" to start automatic flight control

Setting a Destination:

  1. Open the GUI with J
  2. Enter X, Y, Z coordinates in the fields
  3. Click "Set Destination" - you'll automatically fly there!
  4. Or click "Set Destination to Current Position" to save where you are

Maintaining Altitude:

  1. Enter your target height in the Altitude field
  2. Click "Set Altitude" and "Maintain Altitude"
  3. The autopilot will keep you at that height

Speed Control:

  1. Type a speed value (0.5 to 5.0) in the Speed field
  2. Click "Set Speed"
  3. Or use [ and ] keys to adjust speed while flying

Tips & Tricks

  • Enable "Follow Terrain" to automatically pull up when close to the ground
  • Combine destination navigation with altitude control for precise flights
  • The HUD shows real-time info when autopilot is active
  • Autopilot automatically disables if you stop gliding

Known Limitations

  • You must already be gliding with elytra to enable autopilot
  • Very sharp turns may cause brief instability
  • Works best with clear flight paths (avoids solid obstacles but not overhangs)
