Fables introduces elemental elites and collectible cores for Hytale servers. Every spawned NPC is tagged with an elemental affinity, has a 25% chance to be promoted to an elite with a bespoke title, and rolls a 50% chance to drop a matching core on death. The first core in a player’s inventory occupies a dedicated “core slot”; equipping announces the core and applies its passive each tick.
- Core types and themes: Blaze (heat buildup), Tide (steady warding), Gale (light feet), Stone (stout guard), Arcane (critical focus). Elite drops are marked in core metadata.
- Passives: Gale, Stone, and Tide dampen stored fall distance to soften landings. Blaze and Arcane are informational hooks for future damage/crit bonuses.
- Drop behavior: Death-tagged NPCs with an elemental affinity roll the 50% drop; spawned items carry element, ability text, and elite flag in metadata.
- Names: Elemental or elite status is prefixed onto NPC display names for quick identification.
- Slot rules: The first core found across all containers is considered equipped; removing all cores clears the slot and notifies the player.
Limitations and notes: Core slotting is logical (it piggybacks on the first core item rather than adding a UI slot). Blaze and Arcane currently only announce their abilities; additional combat hooks can be layered onto these metadata tags later.
