Haunted Encounters
This add-on replaces core hostile mobs with ghostly variants to keep Cobblemon worlds atmospheric without changing survival balance.
- Ghost replacements: zombies → Forlorn Ghosts, skeletons → Spectral Ghosts (ranged shadow balls), creepers → Volatile Ghosts, ghasts → Wailing Ghosts, blazes → Pyrous Ghosts, endermen → Flickering Ghosts. Each keeps the original AI role, health, drops (XP only for Forlorn/Spectral; others mirror their vanilla loot), and spawning category.
- Ghostly traits: all ghosts float with phasing movement, burn when exposed to sunlight, and actively path toward shaded tiles instead of hiding in blocks. Natural spawns stay limited to darkness just like vanilla hostiles.
- Spawns: vanilla spawns for the replaced mobs are removed; the new ghosts spawn in the same dimensions (Overworld, Nether, End) with comparable weights. Creative-friendly spawn eggs are included for every ghost.
- Sounds & visuals: custom texture sets are shipped for every ghost plus the Shadow Ball projectile. Sound events are registered for ambient cues and attacks so resource packs can swap audio easily (defaults re-use existing Minecraft sounds).
- Capture blocking: ghosts are regular hostile mobs (not Pokémon), so Poké Balls simply dissipate on contact and cannot start Cobblemon captures or battles.
- Files of interest: entity logic and registrations live under
com.hauntedencounters, assets underassets/hauntedencounters(textures, geo, animations, sounds, lang). The mod id ishauntedencountersand it runs on both client and server.
Known limitations / notes:
- The provided Blockbench geometry and animation JSONs are bundled for resource-pack or future animation use; current rendering uses vanilla models with custom textures.
- Ghost phasing uses no-clip flight to slip through walls; they still take sunlight damage and seek shade but may hover rather than walk.
