Momentum & Curses
Overview
Momentum & Curses is a PvP-focused mod that rewards players for getting kills and punishes them for dying. Every PvP kill gives you a stack of Momentum, making you stronger and faster. Get killed in PvP and you'll gain a Curse stack, slowing you down and weakening your attacks.
Features
- Momentum System: Gain stacks for each PvP kill (+2% speed, +0.4 damage per stack)
- Curse System: Gain stacks when killed by another player (-5% speed, -1 damage per stack)
- No Both at Once: You can never have Momentum and Curse simultaneously
- Stack Limits: Momentum has infinite stacks, Curse maxes at 3 stacks
- PvP Only: Only player-inflicted deaths within 5 seconds count
- Permanent Effects: Can't be removed by milk, totems, commands, or logging out
How to Use
- Get Momentum: Kill another player. You gain +1 Momentum stack and +2% speed, +0.4 attack damage.
- Lose Momentum: Get killed in PvP and lose all your stacks.
- Get Cursed: Die to another player while having no Momentum. You gain 1 Curse stack (max 3).
- Break the Curse: Kill a player while Cursed to cleanse all Curse stacks.
- Check Your Status: Use the
/momentumcursescommand to see your current stacks and stat bonuses.
Tips & Tricks
- Chain Kills: Keep killing to build up massive Momentum and dominate PvP
- Stay Active: Action bar shows your current stacks automatically every second
- Avoid Death: If you have Momentum, dying will wipe all your progress
- Cleanse Strategically: Having Curse? Get one kill to remove it entirely
Known Limitations
- Effects are only tracked server-side, so single-player worlds won't work
- Environmental deaths (lava, fall damage, mobs) do not affect your stacks
