30—FreefabricServer1.20.1mod
Tails 2.0 rebuild for Fabric 1.20.1 delivers a modernized, cosmetic-only suite of animated parts with a built-in editor.
- Access: a “Cosmetics” button appears in the pause menu; the default hotkey
Khides or shows all cosmetics at once. - Parts: tails, ears, snouts, horns, wings, and fluff; per-part toggles, size/length sliders, motion intensity, and two-color gradients with selectable direction.
- Presets & saves: eight shipped presets (fox, wolf, cat, dragon, snow fox, lynx, night dragon, pastel spirit) plus five personal save slots. Presets start gentle and optional parts stay off unless chosen.
- Profiles: stored per-player in the Tails 2.0 config folder; new players start with everything hidden. Save slots are separate from the active look and can be loaded or overwritten from the editor.
- Sharing: cosmetic sharing is on by default when a server also runs the mod; clients can opt out or hide locally. Players without the mod simply see vanilla skins.
- Editor: vanilla-styled screen with RGB/hex fields, gradient direction chooser, motion/size sliders, per-part enable/disable, share toggle, hide toggle, presets, and save/load buttons. Changes apply immediately.
- Rendering & animation: lightweight sway/twitch scaffolding with gentle motion scaling to player speed; HUD reminder appears when cosmetics are hidden. Models are intentionally attached without replacing the player model to stay armor-friendly.
Known limitations / next steps
- Current renderer is a lightweight placeholder; drop-in mesh/texture layers can be added to the render manager to show full 3D parts.
- Server sync stores uploaded profiles but does not yet rebroadcast them to other clients; enable when a server feature renderer is added.
- No baked skin export is wired yet; the UI flow is ready for it to be plugged in.
