Better Combat adds stamina-gated, timing-based combat with movement and interaction tools that reward deliberate play.
- Stamina: Attacks, dodges, and focus actions spend a shared 100-point stamina pool; regen slows in combat and is faster while flowing. Swinging while empty is cancelled.
- Timed strikes: Attacking too early is blocked and applies a short fatigue/cooldown. Hitting in the 0.6–1.3s window adds bonus damage and grants “flow,” while slower heavy swings still hurt more.
- Positioning: Striking from behind grants extra damage and briefly slows the target; flowing hits can also apply Weakness to punish careless enemies.
- Dodge: Sneak + right-click with an empty main hand to dash in your facing direction, gaining brief Resistance and slow-fall. Costs stamina and has a short cooldown.
- Focus & interaction: Right-clicking with an empty hand (standing) or while sneaking against a block starts a focus stance that converts into Haste/Jump Boost on the next block break, spending a little stamina for smoother gathering/positioning.
- Passive boosts: Flowing combos keep Speed up for repositioning, and short action-bar messages cue timing and exhaustion.
Notes and suggestions:
- Stamina and flow reset on login; there is no HUD bar beyond the action-bar cues.
- No new items or textures are added; everything uses vanilla controls. Future expansions could add client HUDs or weapon-specific move sets.
