Meet Weft, the New Model in Creator Hub
Creator Hub just got a new option in the model picker, and it's the cheapest one there: Weft.
What Weft actually is
Weft is a model we built and trained ourselves, aimed at one job: turning a plain-language request into a simple, working Fabric mod for Minecraft, things like homes, warps, kits, and basic commands. Because it's smaller and more specialized than our standard option, it costs less to run, and we're passing that savings straight to you.
Where it shines, and where it's still learning
For everyday requests, Weft is genuinely good: in our own testing, it got 9 out of 10 straightforward command-style mods right on the first try. For bigger, more original mods (unusual mechanics, custom items, anything that hasn't really been built before), our standard option is still the better pick, and it stays the default for that reason.
Weft is a first release, not a finished product. It won't get everything right yet, especially on harder requests, and we'd rather say that upfront than have you find out mid-build. It'll keep getting better with each version.
Why we're also giving away the model itself
Alongside the version running in Creator Hub, we're publishing the model itself: anyone who wants to run it on their own hardware can download it for free, under a standard open license (Apache 2.0). We're also publishing exactly how well it performs on a fixed set of test requests, the same ones every time, so the numbers are honest rather than cherry-picked. On that test, this release gets 22 out of 29 requests right on the first try, well ahead of where we started.
None of this changes how Creator Hub works for you, except that there's now a cheaper option for simple jobs. If you're curious enough to want the model itself, it's yours to download and try.
Try Weft next time you're building something simple in Creator Hub, or grab the model if you'd rather run it yourself. Let us know what you think on Discord.
